Too often, edtech companies overstate, cherry-pick, or misrepresent what their research shows. More evidence is necessary, but not sufficient. Funders, journalists, states, districts, and providers all have a role in building a market that rewards telling the truth about what works.

During the 2025-26 school year, Accelerate commissioned independent evaluations of AI-powered tools under real classroom conditions. Over the next few months, we will publish a synopsis of every study, whether the findings are encouraging, disappointing, or inconclusive.
Classroom observations are representative of our commitment to ensuring a bridge between evidence and action. Since 2023, Accelerate staff have visited schools across 32 cities in 19 states and the District of Columbia.
We selected 11 grantees with tools focused on math and literacy that serve students from PK through grade 12. Together, grantees operate across 45 states.
Grantees will generate rigorous evidence that informs how AI tools can improve student outcomes.
