Five states, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Ohio, and Louisiana, were selected through a highly competitive process. Each demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing academic recovery by integrating high-impact tutoring into public schools in the 2023-2024 school year and beyond. Each state will receive $1 million in grant funding and strategic support to pursue this work.
States Leading Recovery Grant Opportunity

Accelerate’s States Leading Recovery (SLR) grant program provides states with grant funding and expert support to strategically leverage and scale high-dosage tutoring to address statewide academic gaps.

Arkansas is building on a strong foundation, including comprehensive legislation that supports student literacy and requires a statewide tutoring effort, and early efforts to establish a tutoring corps.
Colorado
Through its High-Impact Tutoring Program (HITP) grant, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) provides incentives for local education providers to implement effective tutoring to help students recover from unfinished learning due to the pandemic.
Delaware
The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) will provide reading tutoring for K-3 students in partnership with nonprofit tutoring provider, Reading Assist.
Louisiana
Through a partnership between Louisiana Kids Matter and the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), Louisiana will provide tutoring to students in grades K-5 ELA through BookNook, and in grades K-8 Math through Zearn.
Ohio
Ohio will offer reading tutoring to students in grades K-3, reinforcing the state’s commitment to early reading. The tutoring program will prioritize districts that are identified as having low on-track reading scores for early learners and Reading Achievement Plans.
